Sold to a lady interstate. One of Dawn’s latest paintings, “Sealed with a kiss”, done this month amidst her self-portraits. She still loves her abstract art, and start by laying down marks and then see where they lead her to. She laid the marks down with the colours she fancies at the moment and then proceed from there. So you’ll never know what comes out of it. It’s a complete surprise!
She learnt this technique while she was doing an undergraduate at the University of Ballarat. That’s when she embarked on abstract painting which she never done or know of.
On reflection, Doug Wright, one of lecturer remarked years later, he would have liked to see what her portraiture work would have lead to if she had not embarked on abstract. However, Dawn still loves her abstract paintings, it gets her creative juices flowing while portraits are rather more of a look and put art. She loves all her paintings.
Otherwise, if a piece does not turn out to her liking she paints over them, using them as bases for the next work. I rather she kept them because in some cases, other people liked them.
Everyone working hard at Rainbow Gallery.
Sara making samosas which is a favourite at our cafe.
Steve doing some cleaning.
Dawn’s latest portrait in a very prominent place over the fireplace. Stunning and coincidentally the same colours as Bernice’s last concert in Guangxi, China.
