abstract painting wins competition

Dawn’s abstract wins prize

A win for an abstract painting in the Hydrocryl Prize in Ozartfinder

Dawn had a win with her painting in OzArtFinder, an Australian website for artists in the contemporary and abstract section. It is good to see Australian art websites that support local artists and another one in particular, Bluethumb has been selling a lot of Dawn’s art to Australians.

In reviewing Dawn’s artwork, Ron Reynolds commented “Shrouded Cloisters is a moody introspective painting, limited palette of blacks and greys and shapes that are fixed and others moving.” (http://www.ozartfinder.com/news/hydrocryl-winners/)

My new website

Chai has made a new website for me!

A new website of my abstract paintings for sale is now live

Chai has made a new website for “Dawn’s contemporary abstract art”  with a simple shopping cart which includes PayPal payments. It has been a hard job to find a FREE shopping cart to take payments, so it was a God send to find one on the wordpress.org platform.  There is no shopping cart on the wordpress.com website as this platform doesn’t allow for a shopping cart.

Chai had to search for a platform that won’t cost an arm and a leg to incorporate a shopping cart. It has been a long search but he  finally found a very simple one which many  people are using. Most good ones cost a monthly fee for a package which includes web hosting and a payment facility which has an extra  cost

Today's Painting

My Abstract expressionist painting today

the painting “Storm” has an abstract expressionist feel to it

Started this morning with colors that I seem to have used before but  haven’t had much success and  I thought I was going down the same track,  but to my surprise,  outside in perfect light for the camera  (cloudy )  I’ve decided I like them, this time they’re working for me.

I shall add a touch more magenta which worked well but  was covered by the layer of blue. It has a feel of a storm or something in nature to me.

New painting

I am in such a great place at the moment. My work has improved and finally producing a style I’ve desired . I believe it’s because I’m giving. As Paul McCartney said,  and in the end,  the love you take  is equal to the love you make, and of course before Paul  there is the greatest teacher of all,  our Lord. Proceeds from my art are helping a group of  the chakma people  become self sufficient by building their own weaving business  information about this on   thechakmatrust.com.

Coming together nicely.

At last, I have achieved an aim after struggling for weeks, even a  number of year’s,  on  my lost and forgotten vision when I first saw abstract art in my uni days 1993. It was awaken by an artist I saw on twitter from the UK who’s  name escapes me now and a friend pointed me in the way of Ellen Rolli an American artist, who’s work has also been helpful to jog my memory. So I’m really excited about this painting,  it’s been a long time.

New abstract painting?

Latest abstract expressionist painting or is it?

Hard choice to where this abstract expressionist painting could go as.

Thinking this painting could fit within 3 categories minimalist, Colour Field and Abstract expressionism.

Helamen found that “The emergence of Colour Field effectively divided Abstract Expressionist painting into two styles – (1) gestural and full of contrast and action; (2) smooth, flat, and relatively incident-free with large fields of rich colour. The latter style, like Still, Rothko and Newman, devoted more attention to formal elements in their painting – such as line, shape, colour – than secondary elements such as context or narrative, and this emphasis on formalism” comes after abstract expressionism. (http://www.visual-arts-cork.com/history-of-art/colour-field-painting.htm

So its a little bit of minimalist, gestural abstract and colour field. Dawn’s paintings are evolving. (Helamen)

Would love your comments!
